From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group understands precisely where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them few options but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
